About the Department

The External  Relations Department drives  DNDi’s visibility, influence, and financial sustainability. Its Communications, Private Sector Fundraising & Partnerships, and Institutional & Public Fundraising teams ensure that DNDi is visible, supported by committed stakeholders, and successful in securing the resources needed to deliver on its mission.

Overview

The Senior Digital Communications Officer is responsible for the content, technical support, and marketing of DNDi’s websites to engage DNDi’s existing and build new target audiences online. Works closely with other communications team members around the world to source, plan, and disseminate online communications in support of DNDi’s communications objectives

Responsibilities

Content

  • Oversee and implement regular updating of content on the main DNDi website including news, events, scientific articles, and information related to DNDi’s work
  • Collaborate closely with members of the communications team to guide production of new content in a web-friendly format, such as creating and updating texts, adding new graphics, and refreshing data
  • Proactively select and adapt content produced by the corporate, content, and social media teams into web content such as web news, long-form web stories, etc.
  • Guide regional office communications team members on content changes and/or updates of regional websites to improve content and performance of regional websites
  • Collaborate closely with members of the communications team, particularly the social media team, to guide inclusion of the websites on digital communications campaigns and cross-linking between and within different digital channels

 

Technical support and administration

 

  • Organize the hosting of DNDi websites, update of DNDi website software, secure configuration of websites, and timely troubleshooting of bugs and performance problems working in close collaboration with DNDi’s IT team and external service providers
  • Oversee digital subscriptions and handle invoice management from these subscriptions

 

Analytics and outreach

  • Monitor website metrics on a weekly basis and ensure the analytics are regularly exported for storage
  • Compile reports on website metrics for specific audiences, e.g. donor reports
  • Oversee web marketing and advertising using tools such as Google Ads, in close collaboration with an external service provider

Reporting line & Interactions

 

  • Senior Digital Communications Officer reports to Senior Communications Manager
  • The incumbent interacts closely with other members of the DNDi Communications team based in Geneva and around the globe
  • Collaborators, counterparts, and service providers are mainly in the functional area in and outside DNDi to get information, guidance, and feedback or to enlist cooperation. Works on the organization of representation of DNDi at smaller events and with external stakeholders of same equivalent level

Experience and Education

  • First university degree (Bachelor level) in a relevant field if required by the function.
  • Minimum 6 years’ relevant experience in which at least 3 years at Officer level or equivalent
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and matrix structure
  • Experience of working in public and private sector is highly desirable

    Technical Skills

    • Advanced ability to edit Content Management System websites and create web-friendly content
    • Digital image editing skills
    • Strong knowledge of website trends and best practices
    • Strong knowledge of digital analytics tools
    • Knowledge of digital advertising tools such as Google Ads

Other requirements

  • Fluency in English
  • Proficiency in local languages desirable
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Suite
  • Availability for hybrid work
